Japan - Day 1 - Arrival

I set my alarm for 6:00a, thinking I can finish packing up the little things, and giving myself time for a relaxing breakfast before I head out. Instead, I wake up at 8. I decided not to doublecheck my luggage. Instead, I showered, ate, and hurried my ass out of the house. I arrive at the airport at 9:30, early enough for a 11:30 flight. If only I knew the plane would be delayed for 30 minutes, I woulda taken my time.

So on the plane, I had an aisle seat in the middle row, on the right. Not a bad seat, since it was relatively close to the bathroom, but not close enough where I have to smell people's shit. The first meal served was great. We had a choice between fried chicken with rice, or pork cutlets and mash potatoes. I went with the pork, and it was relatively good, except for the need to gnaw on that shit. Then, the flight attendants (which were ALL hot!, except for the older ones), started handing out the mini haagen daaz ice creams. It was good, and bad. 10 hours on a plane, after eating dairy. I felt sorry for the people around me. I held in my gas and released it in the bathroom. At least I was kind enough to do that. The second meal came later, and man, it sucked! It was cheese lasagna!! What is with all dairy? I ate a little bit, but I hate cheese lasagna. They need to print a menu with what is available before you board the plane.

So I land at Narita, get my bags, and hop on the Narita Express. I get off at my stop in Tokyo, and switch to the Yamanote Line. Having to lug a 16kg suitcase down a giant flight or stairs only to lug it up another giant flight of stairs is not fun. And then, the train was pretty packed, so I had to kinda swing my suitcase around to make room. Sorry train people. I somehow got pushed to the middle of the train and needed to get off. Having a suitcase on a packed train is not fun. I then had to switch from the train to the subway. I think I walked a mile, and then down 1,000 steps on the stairs. Never switch to the Tsukaba Express from Akihabara. So, I get off at Asakusa, and the hotel said that it is about a 4 min walk from the station. So I started walking. Too bad I was walking in the wrong direction! I ended up walking at least 30 mins in the wrong direction before I realized it. And then I had to walk 30 minutes back. All this, WITH my suitcase!

After I get to my hotel, I quickly put my stuff away and go look for food. Lucky for me, there was a festival going on across the street. I decided to walk and take some pictures. I just kept walking, thinking the stalls would end. Until I realized I walked 6 blocks, and it was still going. I got my food, went back and ate it. And then I passed out afterwards.

That concludes day 1.

Europe

I really want to go to Europe this coming summer. Anyone in? I was thinking of going for 2 weeks. I really want to go to London, Paris, Rome, and Madrid. I don't know if we can fit all in 2 weeks. But, I definitely would love to go to 2 countries. Hopefully airfare is cheaper then. I wouldn't want to pay $1,000 for a plane ticket. I guess we'll have to wait till the time gets closer.

Palin for President.. HELL NO!

So who saw the debate last night? Is it me or did she not answer the question, and then divert to another topic of her choice....

Palin: "Can we go back to talk about Afghanistan?"

I thought she did much better than expected. I really wanted to see her mess up like she did with Katie Couric. She held her own though, to my disappointment.

Biden was too statistical. The average American does not have the attention span to hear stats. They'd rather you get the fact quick and to the point. At least he didn't rant like he did in other debates. He did show that he is a much better VP choice than Palin is. It would have been interesting to see Clinton debate with Palin.

On a separate note, hope you all are registered to vote. Equality for all! Vote no on Prop 8!

Biden???

So Obama decided to choose Biden: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/veepstakes

Hmm, I'm not sure that I agree with his decision. Of course I wanted Hilary to be on the ticket. The fact that he postponed naming a VP for so long, just to pick someone who said after he dropped out of the race this year, "I will not run for Vice President", is a bit discouraging. I have a feeling that McCain may choose Romney as his VP, and may prove to be a stronger ticket than Obama/Biden. If you read the last poll taken a few days ago, McCain is actually beating Obama. Some other polls also showed Obama's lead slipping. His main core group is still African Americans and youth vote. Yet, (not being racist here), historically, both have the lowest turn out rates of all voters. Abut 30% of Clinton supporters wanted her on the ticket. I wonder how they'll vote now. Guess we'll see in November...

I am fob

So I decided to cut my hair yesterday. And instead of cutting myself, I decided to get it cut at an Asian place. The last time I cut my hair, I went to this Japanese place in Santa Monica. The lady hella thinned out my hair. It looked ok when I left the place, but the day after, I didn't know what to do with it. One of my old co-workers said it was too thin. Well, flash forward 4 months. I decide to cut my hair again, but this time, at a fobby Chinese place. Kwong recommended the place, cause that's he only guy he trusts cutting his hair, so I go in for a cut. The guy is Cantonese, and we begin conversing in Cantonese. At that point I realized, my Cantonese is HORRIBLE! I understood what he was saying (not every single word, but I would understand the sentence), but I could barely reply. I guess that's what I get for not watching the Jade channel for 10 years. I finished getting my hair cut, and it looks decent (but fobby, which isn't bad). So basically my hair is long in front, and the sides and back are shorter. The top back is short too, but not that short. He styled it with my hair over my forehead on one side. I tried duplicating it this morning, and trying out what I can do with my hair. No success. Why is it that when you try to recreate the hair, you can't? Oh well, maybe you guys will see it in the next week or so.

Life's lessons

Ironic how the phrase "money can't buy you happiness" echoes through you mind, yet rarely has an effect until the situation presents itself. Like an annoying squawking parrot repeating the only line it knows, these words of wisdom are treated with a "not for me" type response. How ironic a person who values money so dearly, pinching every penny, thinking happiness is around the corner, learns a lesson, previously and recklessly ignored. Yet ironic is the fact that prior activities were in fact happy ones, swirled with unhappiness of devaluation. Is there a medium for the two? This is the mystery of life.

Why Peter is mean

Peter to Diana when she's driving: "What the HELL do you think you're doing?!?!"

Peter to someone who will be unnamed: "Dumb people think alike"

Peter to Linda S.: "What the HELL are you???"

Peter to Linda C: "You're an IDIOT!"

A Little Vulgarness to Spice Things Up

Not Spice Girls style.... they just ended their 47 Show tour as of two days ago, so I'm somewhat going through a rift with them. Haha!

I just wanted to post this of Jennifer Beals:

So who has wanted to do that screaming bit from your desk? I know I have, and sometimes I want to throw stuff from my desk too.

I'm going through a "fetish" yet again, or is it? If I ever need counseling you all have authorization to take me to a psychologist, but just remember to buy me a cup of Gummi Bear Smoothie from Jamba Juice.

I'm talking nonsense, it's getting late I feel like my head is 100 lbs all on its own, and I got work tomorrow on Thursday, well half day, but work nonetheless! Much love to you BunGeps!

Politics.....

I've been following the Presidential election news closely for the past month or so. What are your guys' opinion on it? Who do you think is gonna win? I wasn't too shocked to see Obama win the Iowa primaries. I would like to see who wins in Nevada, South Carolina, and California. Hilary has a lead in all three states. A very big lead, according to recent polls. I am still unsure who I'm going to vote for, Obama or Clinton. New Hampshire seems like an Obama win as well, but these two states are too small to really tell who'd win the nomination from the party. Anyways, I'll write more Wednesday after the votes are tallied.

Remember to vote February 5th!
